Charter Day celebrates the official founding of the University, which took place March 23, 1868 — also known as the university’s birthday.

Dear delegates,

I hope you have had a smooth position paper-writing period thus far! As we count down the days until BMUN 72, I wanted to check in to remind you of some important dates, announcements, and opportunities we have for you. Please read in full to take advantage of the resources you have before conference!


Position Papers


A reminder that the final deadline for ALL Position Papers is Tuesday, February 25th. Again, we’d be happy to grant an extension if necessary, just reach out to our committee email at whobmun72@bmun.org!


For reference on the expectations and format of your position papers, refer to this page on our BMUN Website (LINK), or our past blog posts. Before you submit, please be sure to take a look at the official WHO Position Paper Guidelines to review the rubric.


Debate


As we near the start of BMUN 71, I wanted to refer you to our Conference Policies page. Here you will find all of our policies on awards, plagiarism, pre-written resolutions, electronic use, dress code, and harassment. Please take the time to read through this page as the maintenance of these policies is critical to ensuring a positive BMUN experience for all– and be sure to email us any questions you may have.


Please note we will be using Standard BMUN Procedure. Please be sure to review our technology policy as well.


Office Hours


Last but not least-- Office hours! In case all the blog posts and emails have been daunting, we hope you will sign up for office hours to chat with us for a bit. Office hours are a great opportunity to ask us any questions or receive feedback on your position papers! The link to sign up for office hours can be found here and in our newsletter! Tips for Solutions

 Hi delegates! As BMUN grows nearer, I wanted to offer some advice on your solutions and what our dais expects for committee! Updates on Topic A

There are many steps that the World Health Organization has taken on in light of the pandemic and a lack of quality-assurance in international blood availability . One big step is the establishment of the Advisory Group on Blood Organization, Availability, and Stability in 2020, whose objective is to scale up the implementation of WHO policies and strategies in order to increase universal access to quality-assured blood.  In response to calls for action, as of 2020, the WHO has provided 6 specific guidelines for blood products from 2020-2024. These target countries with weak blood systems, with the objective to create systems for blood services that are; appropriately structured, regulated, efficiently managed, effectively surveilled, and partner oriented. At World blood donor day in June of 2023, the Pan American Health Organization highlights the need to increase plasma donations through blood extraction so that lower and middle income countries especially have adequate blood supply.
